A hush descended over the Inn of Lost Dreams as Larni the Ranger stared quietly for a moment into the goblet of wine she nursed, before taking a sip and setting it down.
"You may wonder," she said, quietly, "why we are trapped here, isolated from our homes, marooned in the facet of Ilshenar. Few yet know the tale, but all must hear it before we are through...."
Thus began the story Larni told the survivors of the Catastrophe, a cataclysmic disaster that caused the peoples of Trammel, Malas and Felucca to flee their homes, abandoning their worldly wealth, their very homes, to travel to the savage lands of Ilshenar. This terrible event, brought about by the powerful being Kahoris, filled the three facets with daemons. It was only the quick thinking of Lord Dahak that saved them - he evacuated them to Ilshenar, then sealed the moongates, perhaps forever...
But not soon enough to prevent evil from saturating the world.
This is the world you are born in, the world you
struggle to live in. Peril faces you at every turn - a knife in an alley, or
marauding orcs in the wild. Only one thing remains.
Hope.
For while
hope lives, there is still a chance that we may triumph against Kahoris and
regain our rightful home!
