 Dear friends!
You all heard the unsettling news of late. There have been attacks on Lakeshire, fought back by our excellent Freyy and her men, but still with many losses on our side. I myself told you how I stumbled upon one of those loathed black moongates. And now there is more to tell.

Some of you might know the degenerate – and, indeed, still largely ruined - city of Montor near the Chaos shrine.
It's a very beautiful place, even in its desolate state, but for some time it's been troubled by the packs of dark wolves owned by the inhabitants. It is a degenerate, cursed city – although I think this only adds to its quiet and eerie charm, which I enjoy very much.
But on my last visit to the city I was shocked to the bone by some kind of dejá-vu: I crossed paths with a giant, dread spider! Now those of you who travelled our new homeland know, that there are normally no dread spiders stalking the country in bright daylight. So what did this specimen do here? I used my magic to become invisible, and started to investigate into this matter. Before long, I found one of the many ruined buildings of the city being covered in cobwebs. Several giant and dread spiders clustered all around it, watching. Shivers crept up my neck but I moved on inside the building.
There I found a horrific display: Spider webs everywhere, human figures, spun up in silk, lying like dead. A huge cocoon of some strange beast hanging in one corner, another one between two pillars, wriggling as if about to burst - and on one end of the room the sight I almost half-expected with fear: a black moongate standing erect on some kind of stone abattoir!
Oh, I knew all to well what horror was lurking on the other side of that moongate, for even though I have only been there for a few short moments, the memory of terror is still burning in my head. I immediately conjured up a wall of energy fields around the gate, hoping that nothing else might creep through it to our world.
After that I sent message to Lord Dahak, who came and saw for himself right away and used a powerful blocking spell to seal the moongate. Hoping, that this will do for the time being, we withdraw to discuss what can be done to prevent further such intrusions.

We agreed, that we will have to form a party to investigate the source of this spider invasion ... on the other side of the moongate! So please, all you who have a taste for fighting, train your various skills and prepare to be called on! We will start our first excursion soon.
Until then I will try to find a way to prevent us all from being killed by the deadly poison of those arachnids ...

 Yours
 Seer Turgon
