The Necromongbaticon

“Welcome, traveler, to the hopelessly cheerful and drearily pleasant world of Mongbatica. I hope my little guide will help you rid these pitiful citizens of all their hope and happiness and fill their lives with the dread and foreboding we hold so dear…..”

Necromancy for beginners: Step one, choosing your shovel...

Necromancy

In order to call upon the powers of pure evil, you must advance your skill in the art of Necromancy. Similar to the Magery ability, the more proficient you are in the dark arts, the higher the likelihood of successfully imposing the will of Evil. Basic training can be bought in Montor.

It is wise to only travel in Montor as a young player if you have negative karma. And don’t forget to lock your karma at a shrine to begin your path to Dread.

Spirit Speech

Mediums are able to heal their wounds by channeling "spiritual energy" from the corpse of a foe. However, if there is not a corpse nearby during the channeling ritual, the energy channeled will be the medium's own mana. A corpse will only contain enough spiritual energy to be channeled once.

Spirit speech also makes your necromancy spells more potent  and the duration of some of the spells last longer.

Those who have achieved "Grand Master" status in the art of speaking with the dead will automatically be heard and hear the cries of the ghosts around them.

The spells

Starting out as a necromancer you are given a spell book containing five spells.  If you wish to start with other skills spell books can be made with the inscription and a little necromancy. Scrolls are normally found on Liches, Tentacles of the Harrower, Meer Eternals, Imps, and daemons but some player vendors may sell scrolls and full books.

Pain Spike

5

20

1

Temporarily causes intense physical pain to the target, dealing direct damage. After 10 seconds the spell wears off, and if the target is still alive, some of the Hit Points lost through Pain Spike are restored. Damage done is ((Spirit Speak skill level - target's Resist Magic skill level) / 100) + 30.

Corpse Skin

11

20

2

Transmogrifies the flesh of the target creature or player to resemble rotted corpse flesh, making them more vulnerable to Fire and Poison damage, but increasing their resistance to Physical and Cold damage. The effect lasts for ((Spirit Speak skill level - target's Resist Magic skill level) / 25 ) + 40 seconds.

Evil Omen

11

20

1

Curses the target so that the next harmful event that affects them is magnified. Damage to the target's hit points is increased 25%, the poison level of the attack will be 1 higher and the Resist Magic skill of the target will be fixed on 50. The effect lasts for one harmful event only.

Blood Oath

13

20

1.5

Temporarily creates a dark pact between the caster and the target. Any damage dealt by the target to the caster is increased, but the target receives the same amount of damage. The effect lasts for ((Spirit Speak skill level - target's Resist Magic skill level) / 80 ) + 8 seconds.

Wraith Form

17

20

4

Transforms the caster into an ethereal Wraith, lowering some Elemental Resists, while increasing their Physical Resist. Wraith Form also allows the caster to always succeed when using the Recall Spell, and causes a Mana Drain effect when hitting enemies. Caster remains in this form until they recast the Wraith Form spell. Caster receives 25% more damage from silver weapons, adds 10% to Physical Resist, loses 25% Fire Resist and 5% in Energy, Poison and Cold Resist. Caster can move through creatures without loss of Stamina.

Mind Rot

17

30

1.5

Attempts to place a curse on the Target that increases the mana cost of any spells they cast, for a duration based off a comparison between the Caster's Spirit Speak skill and the Target's Resisting Spells skill. The effect lasts for ((Spirit Speak skill level - target's Resist Magic skill level) / 50 ) + 20 seconds.

Horrific Beast

11

40

4

Caster remains in this form until they recast the Horrific Beast spell. Bonuses: Caster gains 1 Hit Point per second, 10% damage is added to Melee attacks.

Animate Dead

23

40

1.5

Poison Strike

17

50

2

Creates a blast of poisonous energy centered on the target. The main target is inflicted with a large amount of Poison damage, and all valid targets in a radius of 2 tiles around the main target are inflicted with a lesser effect. One tile from main target receives 50% damage, two tiles from target receives 33% damage.

Strangle

29

65

2.5

Temporarily chokes off the air supply of the target with poisonous fumes. The target is inflicted with poison damage over time. The amount of damage dealt each "hit" is based off of the caster's Spirit Speak skill and the Target's current Stamina. The less Stamina the target has, the more damage is done by Strangle. Duration of the effect is Spirit Speak skill level / 10 rounds, with a minimum number of 4 rounds. The first round of damage is dealt after 5 seconds, and every next round after that comes 1 second sooner than the one before, until there is only 1 second between rounds. The base damage of the effect lies between (Spirit Speak skill level / 10) - 2 and (Spirit Speak skill level / 10) + 1. Base damage is multiplied by the following formula: (3 - (target's current Stamina / target's maximum Stamina) * 2). Example: For a target at full Stamina the damage multiplier is 1, for a target at 50% Stamina the damage multiplier is 2 and for a target at 20% Stamina the damage multiplier is 2.6

Summon Familiar

17

30

4

Allows the Caster to summon a Familiar from the selected list. A Familiar will follow and fight with its owner, in addition to granting unique bonuses to the Caster, dependent on the type of Familiar summoned. You cannot give a familiar orders like you can a pet. If the owner of a familiar goes invisible, so will the familiar.

Flesh crafting

Obtaining a Flesh Crafting book

1) Making your way to doom is tricky – enter the dungeon behind the Lyceum on Verity Isle (Moonglow), Trammel. The Entrance inside and out is usually surrounded by orcs – a good time to use that wither spell!

And don’t forget to raise a few …..

2) Now you need to make your way across the dungeon – you could use séance but if you choose to fight your way across, there is a handy ankh in the middle.

3) Once in doom you need to search for clues as to the whereabouts of the flesh craft book. These take the form of gravestone carvings and are all found close together – three in total. Once you have figured out what you need to say at the oak write it down.

4)  To find the oak tree in question we need to start from a dungeon near the philtre village of Lakeshire. Once there climb the steps and enter the dungeon .

After the telepad room turn left into the main body of the dungeon. Beware as many Ophidians fill the next room.

Séance is very useful here….

Run west past the Ophidians then circle round the Kraken pool. Continue north-west and you should come to a healer.

Go past the healer then double back on yourself to take the stairs up to a small entrance cave containing some orcs – The next bit is very dangerous as though the door to the east is a massive  spawn of  Daemons. I would suggest preparing the words you need to say before exiting the dungeon.

Once in the clearing run to the oak – you do not need to cross the water to say your piece. If your words are correct the book will appear in your backpack.

Obtaining flesh crafting scrolls

So far scrolls have only been found on Zealots which can be found in The Pass of Karnaugh and the new dungeon west of Lakeshire (shown above). Once you have a scroll you need - to have read the book, as above, a small amount of necromancy and lots of body parts.

Bone Minion -

Grey Mare -

The Flesh Smiths

Little is known about these strange creatures- rumour has it they may have much sought-after flesh crafting knowledge.

Quests

The Skeletal Dragon Quest.

First you must find the necromancer’s hut. It is just south east of the humility shrine.

The necromancer isn’t friendly….

Once inside make your way through the door and towards the back of the hut, you will see a black hole in the ground – enter it .

Once down the steps go though the black cave entrance.

Here you will find various low level undead and a Skeletal dragon. The minions will attack you regardless but if you talk to the dragon and he will give you your quest.

Head though the black gate – it will bring you to the disgusting little village of Lakeshire-

Once in Lakeshire, head west and enter the undead village – behind one of the walls is a hole – climb down and claim the scroll from the sniveling Paladin….

-Once the scroll is found return to the Dragon.

The Gargoyle Quest

1) The Exodus dungeon in Ilshenar is where our quest begins …

2) Once there you need to fight, or sneak past, a Gargoyle Destroyer. He’s pretty though, throwing his huge axe at you and also healing himself amongst other spells….

 3) Then talk to Xenan Mani – he asks you to take his axe to be spell crafted by Ortrel Yelm, a garish spell crafter who lives in Moonglow…..

 4) The spell crafter lives in a tower near the where telescope once stood on Moonglow. He will spell craft the axe - you could always keep it ……

5) Take the axe back to Xenan Mani  (drop it on him) -  he gives you a small amount of cash in a rather condescending manner then offers to make you something – but he needs you to collect  some raw materials – human skin…. This can easily be obtained by killing brigands – skin them as you would cut meat from an animal.

7) Return to Xenan Mani and give him the skin ( drop it on him)  to claim your reward .

I’m not going to spoil the surprise. Enjoy.
